Flatbush Shopping Centre

What a small Shopping Centre can do when the Local Community gets behind it.

Dawson Road is a small shopping centre in Otara with only 29 businesses.  One of these is SuperValue Flatbush.  On Saturday 5th September the Business Association asked their local community to help clean up the centre to get ready for painting.


228 volunteers turned up, with staff from the Manukau Beautification Trust and Manukau City Council, Otara Community Board and Councillors Arthur Anae and Efu Koka.  The number swelled to almost 300.

Our volunteers collected rubbish, weeded gardens and painted fences which helped to turn the centre into a real masterpiece.  The day was full of fun and community pride that concluded with a BBQ.
