Christmas Cupcakes

The fun is in the decorating!

Get the kids involved this Christmas with this simple cupcake recipe. Decorate with your favourite seasonal treats.


  • 150g butter
  • 1 ½ cups caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 ½ cups of self raising flour
  • 1 ¼ cups of milk
To decorate
  • Icing - coloured and flavoured with your favourite food dyes and essences
  • Christmas treats - chocolate Santas, sprinkles, chocolate coins etc

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C.
  2. Beat the butter in a bowl, add the caster sugar and mix until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and mix well. Follow with vanilla, flour, and milk, mix until smooth.
  4. Place cupcake cases in a muffin tray. Pour in the mixture until they are 2/3 full.
  5. Bake in the oven for approximately 20 minutes or until golden and a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  6. Wait until cool and then ice. Decorate with your favourite Christmas treats.
