Swedish Meatballs

Nothing beats homemade meatballs smothered in a creamy gravy sauce!

A flavourful dinner option.

Ingredients

  • 500g Beef Mince
  • ¾ cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Tbsp Chopped Parsley
  • ¼ Tsp Ground Allspice
  • ¼ Tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ cup Finely Chopped Onion
  • ½ Tsp Garlic Powder
  • ¼ Tsp Pepper
  • ½ Tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 5 Tbsp Butter
  • 3 Tbsp Flour
  • 2 Cups Beef Stock
  • 1 Cup Full Cream
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tsp Dijon Mustard
  • Salt/Pepper to Taste

Method

  1. Mix beef mince, breadcrumbs, parsley, allspice, nutmeg, onion, garlic powder, pepper/salt, and egg in a bowl.
  2. Roll into meatballs and cook in the frypan with olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter continuously turning until cooked through and set aside.
  3. Add 4 tablespoon butter and flour to the frypan and whisk till it turns brown.
  4. Slowly stir in beef stock and cream.
  5. Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard and simmer till sauce thickens.
  6. Add salt/pepper to taste.
  7. Add meatballs back to the frypan and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.
  8. Serve with rice or noodles.
