Hearty Winter Casserole

A warming recipe for those winter days

This hearty recipe is a delicious pick for winter, and is simple with just 7 ingredients. Serve with in season vegetables.


  • 1kg blade steak
  • 2-3 rashers bacon
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp canola oil
  • 1 tsp each: curry powder, mixed dried herbs
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 2 carrots, cut into chunks
  • 420g can condensed tomato soup

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 160C.
  2. Cube the steak and dice the bacon.
  3. Saute the onion in the oil in a frying pan, until soft.
  4. Add the beef and saute until browned.
  5. Add the bacon and curry powder and stir-fry for 1 minute.
  6. Place in a casserole dish.
  7. Add the herbs, celery, carrots and soup and stir well.
  8. Cover and cook for 1.5 hours.
